A drumline is the percussion unit of a marching band. A drumline can consist of certain sections of drums, such as snares, bass drums, and quad drums. These drummers are the backbone of tempo control for the band. Drumlines keep the time consistant throughout each piece being played.
Snare Line - The snare line is usually the main or lead section in the Drumline. Each snare is tuned to the same pitch. Snare Drummers use regualar marching sticks and traditional grip.
Quads - The quads are made up of 5 or 6 drums. Each of these drums is tuned to a different pitch. Quad drummers use matched grip, and can use standard marching sticks or a special mallet designed specifically for quads.
Bass Line - The bass line uses drums that are varied in pitch and size. Bass line plays music that is split between these differently tuned drums. Bass drummers use mallets and matched grip when playing.
Excercises - Drumlines use multiple excercises of different skill levels to improve their playing ability. The difficulty of the excercise depends on the complextity of the music and the speed its being played at.
